With their help providing context and photos from their own archives (luckily I wasn’t resolved to make it a surprise), I created a hearty Layflat Photo Album for each of them as a reminder of how far they've come, and all that’s yet to be written. But this time, it was more meaningful to them than a macaroni necklace - it encapsulated their lives up until this point, honored through photos and written word. To celebrate my parents’ respective 60th birthdays, I decided to gift something homemade and from the heart. Whether it’s an album detailing your heritage or a gift for an aging relative, there are many ways to put together a photo book that recognizes both the milestones and mundane that make up your family's story. So if you’re preparing to create a family history book to keep memories alive for generations, now is a great time to start. Too often, we don’t think to conjure up these narratives and collect those photos from loved ones until it’s too late. ![]() So many stories are held by every single person - even more a family - and we find that in the process of documenting them, they multiply and come alive. ![]() There’s no simpler way to help someone realize their impact or recall their lifetime than to illustrate it through print. ![]()
